Suggested Guidelines for the Boulder WADG

The Boulder WADG meeting Tuesday mornings at the Meadows Library has a continuous two hour sessionss:
10-11 am Discussion of a current event topic. The topic is suggested by the moderator along with additional topics suggested by the group.

The discussion leader will raise the basic discussion topic, moderate the discussion, call on members and control the flow of the discussion. It is the responsibility of the leader to maintain order and quiet interruptions as needed.

The moderator will generally follow the suggested discussion ground-rules.

Note: After some discussion and a vote, the group will using the first 2 hours for the current events discussion for the entire session.

 
11-12 If a book or article has been selected for discussion, it will typically be discussed in the second half of the session.

Books/Articles are generally:
a) Large books, discussed over many weeks or months.
b) Small books, discussed over a few weeks
c) Selected articles, distibuted in paper or by email, discussed for one week.

The leader of the book discussion is not to give a presentation on the subject, rather to guide the discussion for the benefit of all members. Participants are expect to have read some or all of the chosen book/article.

Note: After some discussion and a vote, the group will only be discussing the selected book as long as interest in the book continues. It will normally be the intent of WADG to conclude the book discussion within the month.
